Narangwal (Ludhiana), May 17, 2025 — Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann made a passionate appeal to the people of Punjab on Saturday to rise above political affiliations and join hands with the state government in its war against drugs, titled ‘Yudh Nasheyan Virudh’.
Speaking at a public event where he administered an anti-drug oath to the gathering, CM Mann emphasized that the fight against drugs must become a people’s movement. “This is not about politics. This is about saving our future generations,” he said, calling it a moral duty for all citizens.
He reaffirmed that the bulldozer drive against drug smugglers—in which illegally acquired properties are being razed—will continue until the problem is eradicated. “We started this campaign from this very village and have taken it statewide,” Mann said.
Taking aim at previous governments, Mann accused the Akali Dal of promoting drug smuggling and the Congress of sheltering smugglers. He also slammed both for remaining silent on Punjab’s water issues, accusing them of compromising the state’s interests.
The Chief Minister expressed confidence that Punjab would soon become drug-free, especially with the growing involvement of women in the anti-drug campaign. “When women lead a movement, success is not far,” he stated, expressing hope that with public support, Punjab would soon witness a true transformation.
Mann also outlined the government’s achievements, noting that over 54,000 youth have received government jobs based purely on merit. He added that the state government is committed to inclusive development, transparency, and safeguarding Punjab’s resources, especially water, as the paddy season approaches.
Reiterating his government’s resolve, Mann said the fight against drugs has already seen significant results: major supply lines have been broken, kingpins arrested, victim rehabilitation strengthened, and smugglers’ assets seized and destroyed.
With the momentum of Yudh Nasheyan Virudh, he asserted, Punjab is on the path to becoming a “Rangla Punjab” once again.
