Tensions Explode: After Indian Strikes on Lahore and Rawalpindi, Drone Retaliation Sparks Panic Across Jammu and Punjab

New Delhi, May 8, 2025: India woke to the news of a bold military offensive this morning Operation Sindoor, striking deep into Pakistani territory. The targets were reportedly key terror launchpads in cities like Lahore, Rawalpindi, and Bahawalpur. As the day unfolded, the region braced for the inevitable fallout. By nightfall, the sky over northern India lit up.

In a swift retaliation, suspected Pakistani drone strikes sent shockwaves across several Indian towns. Explosions echoed through Jammu city, while sirens blared in Akhnoor, Samba, Kishtwar, and the high-security Ratnuchak cantonment. Entire neighborhoods went dark as authorities enforced emergency blackouts. The pattern was clear—this was a coordinated aerial response.

Punjab wasn’t spared. Reports of drone incursions came in from Pathankot, Hoshiarpur, and Gurdaspur, all strategic border districts. In some cases, air defense systems, including India’s advanced S-400 batteries, were activated to intercept incoming threats. Witnesses described sudden flashes, booming sounds, and the unsettling drone of engines overhead.

The Jammu Airport was briefly put on lockdown, and airspace restrictions were imposed. Military personnel were seen rushing to fortified bunkers, while civilians were advised to remain indoors. Though no major damage or casualties have been confirmed so far, the fear is palpable.

This chain of events marks a dangerous escalation in the ongoing conflict between India and Pakistan. With both nuclear-armed nations exchanging fire—India through surgical strikes, and Pakistan through drone retaliation—the risk of a larger confrontation looms.

Authorities remain tight-lipped about operational details, but sources suggest further retaliation or counter-measures could be imminent. Meanwhile, residents in northern India are experiencing a chilling return to wartime drills—sirens, blackouts, and the unknown threat from above.
