New Delhi | May 7, 2025 — A high-level press conference is currently underway in New Delhi, where senior officials from the Indian armed forces are addressing the media on Operation Sindoor, India’s precision military strikes on terrorist infrastructure across Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.
Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, Colonel Sofiya Qureshi, and Wing Commander Vyomika Singh are jointly briefing reporters. The press conference follows the dramatic overnight strikes that hit nine strategic sites believed to be linked to the orchestration of the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam, which claimed 26 lives.
“In the early hours today, the Indian armed forces launched Operation Sindoor, targeting terrorist infrastructure inside Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir,” a Ministry of Defence spokesperson confirmed as the briefing began. “These sites were involved in planning, sheltering, and executing terrorist attacks against India.”
Officials are providing details about four key locations among the nine targeted, which they say have long been associated with militant groups including Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammed. These locations, hit with precision-guided munitions, include camps in Bahawalpur, Muridke, Gulpur, and Kotli — all of which Indian intelligence has tied to cross-border terror operations.
“The strikes were focused, measured, and non-escalatory in nature,” said a Defence Ministry official in a prepared statement released moments ago. “At no point were Pakistani military installations targeted. India has exercised significant restraint in both the choice of targets and the execution of the mission.”
The ongoing press conference emphasizes India’s resolve to dismantle the terror networks that continue to pose a threat to national security. The tone so far has been firm yet calibrated, with officials underscoring that Operation Sindoor was a counter-terrorism response, not a declaration of war.
More updates from the press conference are expected shortly.
