National Times Bureau, April 24, 2025 – In the third consecutive encounter within the last 24 hours following the Pahalgam terrorist attack, security forces in Jammu and Kashmir have surrounded a group of terrorists in Dudu Basantgarh area of Udhampur.
The identities of the terrorists are yet to be confirmed. A soldier was martyred in the exchange of fire after succumbing to injuries sustained during the gunbattle.
Meanwhile, in Bandipora, police arrested four overground workers (OGWs) linked to the terror outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba. Authorities said they had received inputs about these OGWs planning to attack police personnel and non-local residents.
Acting on the tip-off, Bandipora police launched a search operation and cordoned off several areas in the district. Muhammad Rafiq Khande and Mukhtar Ahmad Dar were apprehended during a checkpoint inspection.
Two Chinese hand grenades, one 7.62 mm magazine, and thirty rounds of 7.62 mm ammunition were recovered from them.
In a separate operation, Bandipora police, in coordination with CRPF’s F Coy 3rd Battalion and the Army’s 13 RR, set up a checkpoint near Sadunara. During this operation, two more individuals — Rayees Ahmad Dar and Muhammad Shafi Dar — were arrested.
Police recovered one hand grenade, one 7.62 mm magazine, and another set of 30 rounds from their possession.
