PM Modi Created a Favorable Environment for Daughters, Empowering Them Across All Fields
Announces ₹25 Lakh for Library at Government Women’s College, Gohana
Chandigarh, April 19 – Cooperation Minister Dr. Arvind Sharma urged the youth to actively participate in the ‘One Nation-One Election’ initiative, emphasizing it as a crucial step toward fulfilling Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a developed India. Speaking at the 44th annual function and prize distribution ceremony at Government Women’s College, Gohana, Dr. Sharma said the campaign should become a mass movement. Professors and students present in the auditorium raised their hands in strong support of the idea.
Joined by his wife, Dr. Rita Sharma, Dr. Sharma praised Prime Minister Modi’s consistent efforts over the past 10.5 years to uplift daughters through comprehensive policies—from birth, nutrition, and education to employment and entrepreneurship. He congratulated the college’s students for their outstanding achievements in academics, culture, and sports.
Highlighting the need for synchronized elections, he mentioned that the Prime Minister had pledged during his Independence Day speech from the Red Fort to implement One Nation-One Election to fast-track national development. A committee, headed by former President Ram Nath Kovind, has already submitted a report backing this vision. Currently, a Joint Parliamentary Committee is collecting public and political party feedback, and there has been overwhelming support for the idea.
Dr. Sharma explained how frequent elections halt development due to the diversion of government machinery, slowing national progress. He said that religious, social institutions and local bodies have started submitting resolutions supporting One Nation-One Election to President Droupadi Murmu. He called on youth, especially young women, to join this campaign, so that repeated elections and the associated Model Code of Conduct do not hinder job opportunities and recruitment processes.
He emphasized that India should rise above politics and adopt this unified election model, already embraced by developed nations like the USA, Germany, and Israel.
During the event, Dr. Sharma honored meritorious students for their achievements and accepted the college’s request for a digital library by announcing ₹25 lakh from his discretionary fund. Urging students to make full use of the library, he assured that under CM Nayab Singh Saini’s leadership, the state will provide opportunities based solely on merit—without any bribes or political recommendations. Aware of the summer heat, he also announced two water coolers for the college.
