Chandigarh, April 15, 2025: Leader of Opposition Partap Singh Bajwa has filed a petition in the Punjab and Haryana High Court seeking the cancellation of an FIR lodged against him over his recent explosive claim that 50 grenades had entered Punjab — with 18 having allegedly exploded and 32 still at large.
The High Court is set to hear the matter on April 16. Bajwa’s statement had triggered strong political backlash and led to a criminal case being registered against him, with Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann accusing him of inciting public panic and demanding proof for the claim.
Bajwa, however, maintains that his statement was based on serious concerns about the state’s security situation, while critics accuse him of irresponsibility and fear-mongering.
