BJP’s Tarun Chugh Slams Punjab Budget, Calls It ‘Regressive’ and ‘Deceptive’

Chandigarh, March 26, 2025 – BJP national general secretary Tarun Chugh launched a scathing attack on the Punjab AAP government’s budget, calling it a “bundle of regressive vision” that lacks a clear roadmap for development. He accused Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s administration of failing to introduce new initiatives for farmers and industrialists, leaving key economic sectors neglected.
Chugh compared the Punjab budget to the Delhi liquor scam, alleging that Manish Sisodia’s influence could lead to a drug scam in Punjab. He claimed that the state government’s drug awareness campaign was merely a cover-up to divert public funds into publicity efforts.

Criticism Over Unfulfilled Promises
The BJP leader slammed AAP for its failure to deliver on key election promises, particularly the Rs 1,000 monthly allowance for women. He said that the government’s silence on this issue shows its insensitivity toward women’s concerns.
Chugh also highlighted Punjab’s rising debt, which he claimed has reached nearly Rs 3 lakh crore, signaling financial mismanagement under AAP’s rule.

Lack of Focus on Employment and MSMEs
The budget, according to Chugh, fails to address employment generation and MSME sector growth, leaving lakhs of unemployed youth without opportunities. He also criticized the government for neglecting farmers’ grievances, further alienating a crucial section of Punjab’s population.
Accusing AAP of focusing only on political survival, Chugh said that the Kejriwal-led government is more concerned with protecting its image rather than addressing Punjab’s economic and social crises.
