Chandigarh, March 12, 2025 – The Haryana State Election Commission has declared the results of the recent elections for Mayor/Pradhan and Ward Member positions across Municipal Corporations, Councils, and Municipalities. BJP secured a dominant victory in the mayoral contests, while independent candidates made notable gains at the municipality level.
BJP’s Stronghold in Mayoral Races
In the mayoral elections, BJP scored major wins across key cities:
Gurugram: BJP’s Raj Rani secured a landslide victory over Congress’ Seema Pahuja by 1,79,485 votes.
Faridabad: BJP’s Praveen Joshi defeated Congress’ Lata Rani with a margin of 3,16,852 votes.
Hisar: BJP’s Praveen Popli overcame Congress’ Krishna Titu Singla by 64,456 votes.
Rohtak: BJP’s Ram Avtar triumphed over Congress’ Surajmal Kiloi by 45,198 votes.
Panipat: BJP’s Komal Saini defeated Congress’ Savita Sanjay Garg by 1,23,170 votes.
Yamunanagar: BJP’s Suman Bahamani secured a decisive win over Congress’ Kirana Devi by 73,319 votes.
Independent candidate Dr. Indrajit Yadav emerged victorious in Manesar with 26,393 votes, defeating BJP’s Sundar Lal by over 2,000 votes.
BJP Dominates By-Elections and Municipal Council Races
In the by-elections for mayoral posts:
Ambala: BJP’s Shailja Sandeep Sachdeva won by 20,487 votes.
Sonipat: BJP’s Rajiv Jain secured victory with a margin of 34,749 votes.
BJP also dominated the Municipal Council Pradhan races in key areas:
Ambala Sadar: BJP’s Swarn Kaur won by 26,923 votes.
Thanesar: BJP’s Maafi Devi secured a 32,577-vote lead over Congress’ Sunita Kumari.
Independent Candidates Shine in Municipality Elections
While BJP dominated the mayoral and council races, independent candidates had strong performances in municipality-level elections:
Barara: Independent Rajat defeated BJP’s Harjinder Singh by 1,993 votes.
Siwani: Independent Vandana Kedia won by 1,251 votes.
Loharu: Independent Pradeep Kumar edged out the competition by just 43 votes.
Farrukhnagar: Independent Birbal Saini secured victory with a lead of 1,157 votes.
