Chandigarh, March 11 – Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to providing clean drinking water to all households. Over the past decade, the government has ensured tap water supply to every home.
Chief Minister Saini was responding to a question raised by MLA Arjun Chautala during the assembly session. He informed that drinking water is supplied in the Rania constituency through canal-based and tube-well-based supply schemes. Rania consists of 72 villages and 25 hamlets, where 48 canal-based and 38 tube-well-based water supply schemes are operational. Of these, 35 tube-well-based schemes have already been handed over to the respective village councils.
He stated that villages with high TDS levels in drinking water would have their supply converted to canal-based projects. Recently, 765 water samples were collected from the region, out of which 39 samples failed the quality test. Efforts are underway to connect these areas with canal-based water supply systems. He also confirmed that each district in Haryana now has a water testing laboratory.
Chief Minister Saini also addressed healthcare infrastructure development in the state. He announced that an additional block will soon be constructed at the ESI Hospital in Panipat, which currently operates on 8.5 acres of land. The announcement came in response to a query from MLA Pramod Vij.
He highlighted that the increasing number of industrial workers in Panipat necessitates the expansion of medical facilities. A proposal for the new block’s construction will be prepared and implemented soon. The government has already provided over ₹34 crore to empaneled private hospitals for medical treatments over the last five years (April 1, 2019 – March 31, 2024).
On the issue of illegal maternity clinics, CM Saini assured strict action against any such facilities operating without a license or degree. He was responding to a question raised by MLA Chaudhary Maman Khan about unauthorized maternity clinics in Nuh. The CM emphasized that providing accessible and high-quality healthcare to citizens remains a top priority for the state government.
He reiterated the state’s commitment to the “Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao” initiative launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi from Haryana. Any illegal maternity clinic found operating without proper licenses will face thorough investigation and strict legal action.
