Haryana Congress Expels Five Leaders for Anti-Party Activities

Chandigarh, February 27, 2025 – The Haryana Congress has expelled five leaders, including former MLA Rambir Singh, for anti-party activities. The decision, effective immediately, was taken after reports confirmed their involvement in actions against party interests. The other expelled leaders are Vijay Kaushik, Rahul Chaudhary, Pooja Rani, and Rupesh Malik.

An official order from the Haryana Pradesh Congress Committee (HPCC) stated, “Consequent upon the receipt of reports through various means of communications pertaining to party leaders/workers indulging in anti-party activities during the ongoing Municipal Corporation Elections (2025), the following persons are hereby expelled from the party for six years with immediate effect.”

This follows a similar move on February 20, when the Haryana Congress expelled seven leaders for the same reason. The expelled members included former District Congress Committee (DCC) presidents Tarlochan Singh and Ashok Khurana (Karnal), Member Coordination Committee Pradeep Chaudhary (Karnal), and former District Youth Congress (DYC) president Madhu Chaudhary (Yamuna Nagar). Additionally, Ram Niwas Rara (Hisar), Harvinder (Lovely) (Gurugram), and Ram Kishan Sain (Gurugram) were also expelled for six years.

Meanwhile, Haryana Congress president Udai Bhan has raised concerns over the use of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) in the upcoming municipal elections. He demanded that ballot papers be used instead, citing doubts over EVM authenticity. “We have demanded that elections be conducted using ballot papers like in Uttarakhand. There are concerns about EVMs in every state election, and cases have been registered due to doubts over their credibility,” he said.

He also questioned the delay in counting votes, stating, “In every local body election, counting happens on the same day. Why are Haryana Municipal Corporation election results being delayed by 10 days?”

With the municipal elections approaching, these developments indicate growing tensions within the Haryana Congress as it navigates internal conflicts and election challenges.
