Paris, February 10, 2025: Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s upcoming visit to France and India’s role as co-chair of the AI Action Summit are being celebrated as significant steps forward in strengthening the strategic partnership between India and France. The summit, scheduled to take place in Paris from February 10–12, will not only focus on advancing technological cooperation but also highlight the growing geopolitical significance of Artificial Intelligence (AI) on the global stage.
Coumar Ananda, President of the Chambers of Commerce and Industry France-India, underscored the event’s importance, noting that AI has evolved beyond being just a technological tool to becoming a key factor in global governance, security, and economic development. Co-chaired by PM Narendra Modi and French President Emmanuel Macron, the summit will address pressing issues such as AI governance, security, workforce development, and ethical frameworks. PM Modi will also address the India-France CEOs Forum, aiming to boost economic ties and foster innovation between the two nations.
Ananda highlighted that AI now plays a critical role in shaping global politics, influencing areas such as public interest, cultural industries, cybersecurity, and workforce dynamics. “AI is now a geopolitical topic, and India and France leading this initiative of having this global summit in Paris is very significant. It’s about technology, politics, and global strategy,” he stated.
Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri outlined India’s key objectives at the summit, emphasizing the need for AI applications to be safe, ethical, and inclusive. India aims to advocate for responsible AI development that prioritizes human values, transparency, and international cooperation, aligning with its broader vision of emerging as a global leader in technology while safeguarding the interests of its citizens.
PM Modi’s visit will also focus on enhancing defense and security collaboration, expanding partnerships in space technology, climate change, and renewable energy, and promoting trade and investment through engagements with French business leaders. This marks his sixth official trip to France, reflecting the deepening strategic ties between the two countries.
