National Times Bureau :- At least 11 pilgrims lost their lives during the Manimahesh Yatra in Chamba district after heavy rainfall triggered a massive landslide in Bharmour region. Among the deceased are three pilgrims from Punjab, one from Uttar Pradesh, and five from Chamba, while the identities of two others are yet to be confirmed.
Landslide and Oxygen Shortage Blamed for Deaths
Officials stated that falling rocks from the hills and a lack of oxygen at higher altitudes were the primary causes of the fatalities. Approximately 3,000 pilgrims remain stranded in Bharmour as rescue operations continue amidst challenging weather conditions.
Recent Tragedies Highlight Growing Risk
This incident comes just a week after another landslide in the region claimed the lives of seven pilgrims, with nine others reported missing. Authorities have urged devotees to exercise extreme caution as unpredictable weather continues to pose a significant threat in the area.
