Yuzvendra Chahal Breaks Silence on Viral “Sugar Daddy” T-Shirt Amid Divorce Drama

National Times Bureau, Aug 2, 2025: Indian cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal has finally spoken out about the viral black T-shirt he wore to his final court appearance during his ongoing divorce from influencer and choreographer Dhanashree Verma. The shirt, boldly printed with the words “Be your Own Sugar Daddy”, had sparked widespread speculation, with many interpreting it as a pointed dig at his estranged wife.

In a recent conversation with entrepreneur and content creator Raj Shamani, Chahal confirmed that the public’s interpretation wasn’t far off. “Mereko nahi karna tha drama (I did not want to do any drama),” he said. “I just wanted to give one message, and maine woh de diya (I gave that message through the T-shirt).”

Chahal emphasized that the wardrobe choice wasn’t part of any premeditated plan. However, he admitted that a particular incident from Dhanashree’s side had triggered his decision. “Kyunki saamne se kuch cheez hua tha fir maine kaha ab sambhaal lo, ab mujhe nahi parwah kisi ki. Maine na kisi ko abuse kiya, bas mujhe message dena tha (Something happened from her side, and I thought, ‘Now I’m done, I don’t care about anyone.’ I didn’t abuse anyone. I just wanted to send a message),” he added.

The symbolic T-shirt has since become a talking point online, with fans and netizens debating its meaning and implications. While Chahal didn’t reveal specific details about the triggering incident, his remarks suggest it was deeply personal and emotionally charged.

The couple, who tied the knot in December 2020, have been under media scrutiny amid growing rumors of separation, which were confirmed earlier this year. Chahal’s rare openness about the subject adds another layer to what has become one of Indian cricket’s most talked-about off-field stories.
