“Youth Should Embrace the Teachings of the Gita,” Says Haryana Agriculture Minister Shyam Singh Rana

Chandigarh, November 20 — Haryana Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister Shyam Singh Rana urged the youth to embrace the teachings of the Bhagavad Gita in their daily lives. He said the sacred scripture offers solutions to every human challenge and provides the essence of true knowledge.

Rana was addressing young students at the Government Industrial Training Institute in Yamunanagar during the International Shrimad Bhagavad Gita Jayanti Celebrations–2025. He attended the event as the chief guest. Upon his arrival, he was welcomed by Dr. Shriprakash Mishra, founder of Matrubhoomi Seva Mission, and institute principal Bhupinder Sangwan.

Students from Matrubhoomi Shiksha Mandir, run by the Matrubhoomi Seva Mission, and the Government Industrial Training Institute jointly presented cultural performances. Girl students also put up exhibition stalls showcasing their technical and creative skills. The minister inspected the stalls and praised the products prepared by the students.

Addressing the gathering, Rana said the Bhagavad Gita stands apart from all other scriptures because it provides answers to every question that arises in a human mind. He said saints and sages have enriched society through spiritual teachings, and the Gita remains the only text that explains life’s deepest mysteries.

Rana highlighted that the 18-day Mahabharata war took place in Kurukshetra, and the Gita also consists of 18 chapters. He noted that at Jyotisar in Kurukshetra, Lord Krishna imparted the timeless knowledge of selfless action to Arjuna. Haryana, he said, is known as a divine land and the dialogue between Krishna and Arjuna holds immense historical and spiritual significance.

The minister emphasized that the Gita teaches selfless action without attachment to outcomes. When one performs duties with sincerity and selflessness, the results naturally follow. He said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, and Maharishi Gyananand Ji Maharaj are promoting the message of the Gita across many countries.

Rana added that the annual International Gita Jayanti celebration in Kurukshetra holds global importance. This year, the Gita Jayanti Mahotsav is being celebrated from November 15 to December 5.
