National Times Bureau :- A shooting incident was reported on Monday evening near the Tara Wala Pul area of Amritsar, where a young man identified as Armaan Sood, a resident of Jhabal, sustained a gunshot injury. The victim was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, where he is currently undergoing treatment. His condition is said to be critical, and hospital authorities have restricted visitor access.
Speaking to the media, ACP Pravesh Chopra confirmed that police received information about a youth from Jhabal being shot near Tara Wala Pul. Preliminary reports suggest that Armaan had travelled to Amritsar for personal reasons when he was attacked. The assailant, reportedly riding a motorcycle, opened fire and fled the scene immediately after the shooting.
CCTV footage from the surrounding area is being reviewed as part of the investigation. According to eyewitnesses, the attacker appeared to be acting alone. However, police have not ruled out any angle, including personal enmity, and have deployed multiple teams to trace the suspect.
ACP Chopra stated that robbery does not appear to be a motive at this stage. “All possible leads are being explored. We are committed to bringing the truth to light at the earliest,” he added.
The case has raised concerns over public safety in the area, and police officials have assured that strict action will be taken once the culprit is identified.
