Youth Dies of Suspected Drug Overdose in Mansa; Family, Villagers Demand Probe

National Times Bureau :- A 30-year-old man in Punjab’s Mansa district reportedly died due to a suspected drug overdose, triggering concern among locals and the victim’s family, who have demanded a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death.

The deceased has been identified as Amritpal Singh, a resident of village Nangal Kalan. According to family members, he had been struggling with drug addiction for some time. They alleged that narcotics were being openly sold in the vicinity and claimed that repeated complaints to authorities had not led to effective action.

Villagers, including members of the local panchayat, also raised concerns over the alleged availability of drugs in the area and called for stricter enforcement against those involved in illegal activities. They urged the administration to take immediate steps to prevent further such incidents.

Police officials stated that they have taken note of the matter and initiated preliminary inquiries. They added that appropriate action will be taken based on the findings of the investigation.

The incident has once again highlighted the ongoing challenge of substance abuse in parts of the state, with residents calling for stronger preventive and enforcement measures.
