According to details reported by GSM Arena, the updates were spotted in the beta version 2.25.10.16 of WhatsApp for Android. Among the standout additions is a mute button for incoming voice calls, which appears directly in the notification panel. This lets users answer calls while muting their microphone—potentially useful in noisy surroundings or situations requiring privacy.
Another anticipated feature gives users the ability to switch off their camera before answering a video call. This gives a brief moment to compose oneself or maintain privacy, especially when receiving calls from unfamiliar contacts. It also enhances safety by preventing immediate video visibility after accepting a call.
The third feature currently in testing is emoji reactions during video calls, letting users respond with real-time emojis. This adds a more expressive, interactive layer to video conversations, improving how users engage without interrupting the flow of discussion.
These features are only accessible to selected beta testers for now, but a broader rollout is expected in the coming weeks. WhatsApp is expected to continue expanding its feature set as it adapts to users’ growing demand for seamless, secure, and expressive communication.
