“We Want to Stand by the Truth”: Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu on Ahmedabad Plane Crash in Rajya Sabha

New Delhi (National Times): As the Monsoon Session of Parliament 2025 continues, Union Civil Aviation Minister Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu addressed the Rajya Sabha on Monday regarding the tragic Ahmedabad Air India plane crash, which claimed the lives of over 260 people, making it one of the deadliest aviation disasters in the country’s history.

Naidu assured the House that the government is committed to transparency and is awaiting the final investigation report to determine the exact cause of the crash.

“We want to stand by the truth. We want to know the exact cause,” said the minister, stressing the government’s intent to act based on facts.

Updating members on the status of the investigation, he said, “The exact cause of the incident will only be known after the final report is submitted. We have already taken all necessary interim measures and continue to follow them rigorously.”

Highlighting the government’s emphasis on safety, Naidu asserted, “India has one of the best aviation safety mechanisms in place,” but noted that the aim is to bring crash incidents down to zero. “We are open to all suggestions in this regard,” he added.

In an effort to contextualize India’s aviation scale, the minister shared that 2,999 domestic and 624 international flights took off on Monday alone. “Each day, over 3,500 flights are departing, and more than 5 lakh passengers are flying safely across India,” he said.

The Ahmedabad plane crash remains under intense scrutiny, and both Parliament and the public await the final findings to ensure accountability and prevent future tragedies.
