Ward 5 Residents Launch Indefinite Protest Over Sewage Problem in Barnala

National Times Bureau :- Barnala’s Ward No. 5, Awa Basti residents have started an indefinite protest outside the Sewerage Board office today. Frustrated by sewage water overflowing in streets and dirty water entering their homes, locals set up a tent in front of the office and began a sit-in.

Residents said they will not leave until proper drainage is ensured and clean drinking water is provided. The ward’s municipal councillor stated that complaints have been made to the administration and concerned department for a long time, but only false assurances were given.

According to locals, stagnant water remains in the streets at all times, making daily life difficult. With no solution in sight, they were forced to stage a permanent protest.

Junior Engineer Ajay Kumar from the Sewerage Board assured that higher officials have been informed and the issue will be resolved soon.
