Voter ID at Your Doorstep in Just 15 Days: Haryana Rolls Out New Delivery System

Chandigarh, June 18, 2025 — In a voter-centric breakthrough, Haryana’s Chief Electoral Officer Pankaj Agarwal announced that newly registered or updated Voter ID cards will now be delivered straight to citizens’ homes within 15 days through the postal department.

This streamlined system follows a new Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) introduced by the Election Commission of India. It aims to simplify processes related to new voter registrations, corrections, and updates, making electoral services more accessible and efficient.

What sets the new service apart is its transparency. Citizens will receive real-time SMS alerts at every step from application to dispatch allowing them to track the progress and ensuring both timely delivery and data security.

“This initiative marks a significant step toward enhancing ease and efficiency in voter services,” said CEO Agarwal. He emphasized that the reform is part of a broader modernization campaign led by Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and Election Commissioners Dr. Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Dr. Vivek Joshi.

Over the past four months, the Election Commission has rolled out several initiatives to empower voters and build a more responsive electoral infrastructure. This doorstep delivery system adds to that momentum, aiming to reduce delays and cut down on bureaucratic hurdles for millions of citizens.
