National Times Bureau :- Chaos erupted at Punjab’s costliest toll plaza, Laddowal, late last night when a group of drivers attempting to bypass the toll via the VIP lane opened fire on the toll staff. The sudden attack caused panic, forcing toll employees to scatter in all directions to save their lives.

Toll Plaza Manager Vipin Rai stated that around 10 PM, several young drivers approaching from Ludhiana tried to cross the VIP lane without paying the required toll. When the toll staff intervened to stop them, the drivers reportedly fired gunshots at the plaza. In addition to firing, the attackers also hurled bricks and stones at the employees, escalating the situation further.
Police Response
When contacted, Station House Officer Gurshinder Singh confirmed that the police are currently investigating the incident. He assured that the culprits would be apprehended soon and strict legal action would follow.

The incident has raised serious questions about security at the toll plaza, particularly regarding the misuse of the VIP lane and the safety of the staff during late-night operations. Authorities have promised enhanced surveillance and stricter measures to prevent such incidents in the future.
