Veteran Actor and Politician Joy Banerjee Passes Away at 62

National Times Bureau :- Veteran Bengali actor and politician Joy Banerjee passed away on Monday, August 25, at the age of 62, following a prolonged battle with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) and diabetes.

Banerjee was admitted to a private hospital in Kolkata on August 15 after his health deteriorated. Although discharged briefly the next day, his condition worsened, and he was placed on a ventilator on August 17.

According to his secretary, Banerjee breathed his last at 11:35 a.m. “He was admitted on August 15, discharged the next day, but his condition continued to decline,” the secretary said.

The celebraty actor, who also made his mark in politics, leaves behind a legacy in both cinema and public service. His demise is being mourned by fans, colleagues, and political associates alike.
