Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s Historic 175 Powers India to Record Sixth U-19 World Cup Title

Harare, February 7, 2026: Teenage batting sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi produced one of the most extraordinary innings ever witnessed in Under-19 World Cup history as India crushed England by 100 runs in the final on Friday to clinch a record-extending sixth title.
Sooryavanshi’s breathtaking 175 off just 80 deliveries dismantled the English bowling attack and propelled India to a monumental 411 for 9 after England elected to bowl first. The knock, laced with 15 sixes and 15 fours, set multiple records and firmly stamped the 14-year-old as one of the brightest talents in world cricket.
Chasing an imposing target of 412, England were bowled out for 311 in 40.2 overs despite a valiant counter-attack from Caleb Falconer, who struck an impressive 115 off 67 balls. His effort helped England reduce the margin of defeat but never seriously threatened India’s dominance.
Sooryavanshi reached his century in just 55 balls, becoming the second fastest centurion in the history of the tournament, and followed it up with an even more brutal assault to reach 150 in only 71 balls — the fastest 150 ever recorded in U-19 cricket. Remarkably, 150 of his 175 runs came in boundaries, underlining the sheer ferocity of his strokeplay.
The opener began his onslaught early, racing to a half-century in 32 balls before dismantling both spin and pace with ease. His second fifty came off just 23 deliveries as he turned the Harare Sports Club into a stage for an exhibition of fearless batting rarely seen at the age-group level.
At the halfway mark of India’s innings, the run rate hovered near 10 an over and projections briefly touched the 500-run mark, highlighting the scale of Sooryavanshi’s dominance. He was eventually dismissed in the 26th over while attempting a scoop shot, drawing applause from English players who rushed to congratulate him on an innings for the ages.
Sooryavanshi added 142 runs for the second wicket with captain Ayush Mhatre, who contributed a composed 53 off 51 balls. Useful contributions later came from Abhigyan Kundu, Vedant Trivedi, Vihaan Malhotra and Kanishk Chouhan, ensuring India crossed the 400-run barrier with authority.
The total proved far beyond England despite Falconer’s resistance. India’s bowlers operated as a cohesive unit to close out the match and seal a comprehensive victory.
Sooryavanshi’s innings now stands as the highest individual score in a U-19 World Cup final and helped produce the highest team total ever recorded in a summit clash. He also became the youngest centurion in tournament history and finished the edition with a record 22 sixes, surpassing the previous benchmark set in 2022.
India last lifted the U-19 World Cup in 2022, and this triumph further reinforced the country’s dominance at the age-group level, reflecting the depth of its domestic structure and the fearless approach of a new generation led by Vaibhav Sooryavanshi.
