Dehradun – Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Monday said that red and orange alerts have been issued across the state following cloudbursts and intense rainfall in several districts. He assured that relief operations are underway and that the government is working round the clock to support affected families.
The Chief Minister told reporters that every district has been impacted. “There is calamity at Dharali, and in Rudraprayag several places have been hit. In Uttarkashi, Bageshwar, Pithoragarh, Udham Singh Nagar and Haridwar, many areas are waterlogged. A cloudburst has also occurred in Dehri’s Ghansali region,” Dhami said.
He added that relief camps are distributing food, medicines, clothing, and milk for children, while disaster response agencies have been directed to maintain full preparedness.
Disaster Management Secretary Vinod Kumar Suman confirmed that red and orange alerts have been issued for all districts for the next three days. He said arrangements are in place to manage possible waterlogging in the plains.
On Sunday, CM Dhami had warned that the next 24 to 48 hours would be critical, urging district administrations, NDRF, SDRF, and other agencies to remain on high alert. He also said the Nanak Sagar Dam was under constant watch, though still flowing five feet below the danger mark.
During a review meeting with senior officials, Dhami directed officers to remain on round-the-clock duty, ensure safety of citizens, monitor landslide-prone routes, and implement precautions against flooding in low-lying areas.
