US State Department: Human Traffickers are the Main Beneficiaries of Mass Migration

Washington (National Times): In the wake of recent deportations of Indian nationals from the United States, the US State Department has highlighted that human traffickers are the primary beneficiaries of mass migration. They reiterated the Trump administration’s dedication to halting illegal migration while prioritizing the security of national borders and citizens.

In a post on X, the State Department stated, “Many individuals seeking mass migration are often victimized during their journey. This situation benefits no one except traffickers.”

The post continued, “The Trump Administration is committed to stopping illegal migration and safeguarding our borders and citizens.”

Recently, a US Air Force plane carrying 104 Indian nationals, who allegedly migrated illegally to the US, arrived in Amritsar, Punjab.

External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar remarked that it is the responsibility of all nations to repatriate their citizens found residing illegally. He assured that the Indian government is in discussions with the US to ensure that deportees are treated fairly.

During a statement in the Rajya Sabha, Jaishankar explained that deportations are conducted by the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and that the procedures for deportation flights have been in place since 2012, with no recent changes noted for the February 5 operation.

He emphasized, “Deportations by the US are systematically organized by ICE. The standard procedures established in 2012 include the use of restraints; however, we have been informed that women and children are not restrained. Additionally, the needs of deportees, including food and medical emergencies, are addressed during transit, and temporary unrestraining is allowed during necessary breaks.”
