Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan Visits Punjab, Engages with Farmers and Promotes Agricultural Innovation

Patiala (National Times): Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare and Rural Development, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, arrived in Punjab today for a one-day visit aimed at deepening grassroots engagement with farmers and encouraging sustainable, technology-driven agriculture practices.

The Minister began his visit at 10:00 AM from Rajpura village in Patiala district, where he participated in a Kisan Chaupal, directly interacting with farmers to listen to their concerns and gather suggestions. The informal interaction allowed local cultivators to voice issues ranging from crop pricing and irrigation to technological support and government schemes.

Marking World Environment Day, Chouhan planted saplings in Patiala to promote awareness about environmental conservation. Emphasizing the importance of green cover, he called for active farmer participation in eco-friendly practices and sustainable farming.

At 11:30 AM, the Minister addressed a gathering under the Vikast Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan at village Rauni in Patiala. The campaign is part of a national initiative to connect directly with farmers and spread awareness about development schemes and innovations in agriculture.

Later in the afternoon, Shivraj Singh Chouhan reached Amargarh at 2:00 PM, where he visited an exhibition showcasing modern agricultural machinery. He interacted with agritech experts and local manufacturers to understand the role of advanced tools in improving yield and reducing manual labor.

At 2:30 PM, he toured a Farm Mechanization Industry in Amargarh, witnessing the production process of farming equipment and encouraging the adoption of mechanized farming techniques for enhanced productivity.

The Minister’s visit reflects the Centre’s focused approach toward strengthening the rural economy by combining farmer feedback, environmental stewardship, and modern technology. His engagements underscored the government’s commitment to building a resilient, sustainable, and progressive agricultural sector.
