Union Minister Manohar Lal Highlights Constitution’s Promise of Equality for All

Haibatpur, Karnal, April 20: Union Minister for Power, Housing, and Urban Affairs, Manohar Lal, emphasized the importance of equality granted by the Constitution during a Samvidhan Samman Samaroh held in Haibatpur village, Nilokheri, Karnal district. Addressing the gathering as the chief guest, he said the central government, under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has worked tirelessly for the upliftment of every section of society, in line with Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s vision of Antyodaya.

He paid floral tribute to Dr. Ambedkar’s statue and referred to the Indian Constitution as a sacred text. “Whenever we take an oath, we do so with the Constitution or the Gita as witness. It’s the world’s best Constitution,” he said. Manohar Lal also noted that while constitutional amendments are part of democracy, BJP has made changes in public interest, unlike opposition parties who amended the Constitution for political gain.

He criticized opposition parties for previously denying Dr. Ambedkar due respect and opposing reservations. He said it was Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee who helped Ambedkar enter the Rajya Sabha in 1955. He also accused the opposition of spreading misinformation during the last general elections, claiming that the Constitution and reservations would be abolished.

Referring to Prime Minister Modi’s recent visit to Haryana on April 14, Ambedkar Jayanti, the minister highlighted the inauguration of the state’s first airport and the foundation of an 800 MW thermal plant in Yamunanagar. “Today, youth are getting jobs without bribes or influence, thanks to systems like the Parivar Pehchan Patra, which is now recognized nationwide,” he added.

Haryana Assembly Speaker Gian Chand Gupta emphasized the importance of Dr. Ambedkar’s life and struggle, calling him a visionary who fought against caste discrimination, social inequality, and economic disparity. He lauded Ambedkar’s role in embedding justice, equality, and dignity in the Constitution. “His dream of a transparent, merit-based system is now becoming reality through digital governance,” he said.

Presiding over the function, Cabinet Minister Krishan Lal Panwar praised Dr. Ambedkar’s legacy and noted that the BJP-led government declared April 14 a national holiday in his honor. He recalled that the BJP was the first to award Dr. Ambedkar the Bharat Ratna in 1990. “The state government is walking the path shown by Babasaheb and officially celebrates the anniversaries of great Indian leaders,” he stated.

Other dignitaries present included MLA Bhagwan Das Kabirpanthi, Mayor Renu Bala Gupta, and the Union Minister’s media advisor, Sudesh Kataria.
