Chandigarh, March 31 – Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday unveiled a grand statue of Maharaja Agrasen at the Agroha Medical College campus in Hisar district. He also inaugurated a newly constructed ICU block and laid the foundation stone for a PG hostel. Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini was also present at the event.
The newly installed statue of Maharaja Agrasen stands 20 feet tall, weighs 800 kilograms, and is made of fiberglass and mild steel. The project cost approximately Rs 2 crore. The statue is mounted on a 10-foot-high platform, enhancing its grandeur and visual appeal. Its unveiling marks a significant historical addition to the region.
Maharaja Agrasen Medical Education and Scientific Research Society, Agroha, was established on April 8, 1988. The institution’s founding president, the late O.P. Jindal, envisioned it as a center of excellence in medical education. Today, the institution not only provides quality education but also delivers high-standard healthcare services to patients. The newly inaugurated ICU is equipped with modern medical technology, ensuring rapid and accurate treatment for critically ill patients. The block houses 32 beds and was constructed at a cost of Rs 3.5 crore. Additionally, the foundation stone for the PG hostel marks an expansion in residential facilities for medical students.
The event was attended by Public Works and Public Health Engineering Minister Ranbir Singh Gangwa, Health Minister Kumari Aarti Rao, BJP State President Mohanlal Badoli, MP Naveen Jindal, MLAs Savitri Jindal and Vinod Bhayana, Randhir Panihar, Deputy Commissioner Anish Yadav, and other distinguished guests.
