New Delhi, March 11, 2025 – Ride-hailing giant Uber has partnered with Refex Green Mobility to deploy 1,000 electric vehicles (EVs) across key Indian cities by 2026, reinforcing its push toward sustainable transportation.
Driving Toward a Greener Future
Uber announced on Tuesday that the deployment of electric four-wheelers will take place in Chennai, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, and Mumbai. This move aligns with Uber’s global target of offering 100% emission-free rides by 2040.
“Uber is committed to accelerating the shift to zero-emission mobility in India, and this partnership with Refex eVeelz is a significant step in that direction,” said Aditya Kapoor, Head of Supply and Electrification at Uber India and South Asia.
He added that Uber remains focused on overcoming barriers to EV adoption and supporting the transition to a more sustainable future through strategic collaborations.
Boosting EV Adoption in India
Refex Green Mobility Ltd, a subsidiary of Chennai-based Refex Industries Ltd, will oversee the deployment under the brand Refex eVeelz.
Sachin Navtosh Jha, Chief of Staff at Refex Group, highlighted the importance of this collaboration. “This partnership, combined with our existing fleet of nearly 1,300 company-owned four-wheeler EVs, will help reduce urban carbon emissions and support India’s broader sustainability goals,” Jha said.
Commitment to Sustainability
This initiative reflects Uber’s strategy to integrate electric vehicles into its platform and advance India’s green energy transition. With rising concerns over urban pollution and carbon emissions, the move is expected to contribute significantly to cleaner cities and a more sustainable transport network.
