U-Turn & First step organized multicultural event in Calgary Promotes Unity, Inclusion, and Indigenous Dialogue

Calgary (Rajeev Sharma), March 23, 2025: In a remarkable display of cultural unity and collaboration, First Step Together Society (led by Anita & Savita) and U-Turn project (led by Jay) organized a vibrant multicultural gathering in Calgary. The event brought together diverse communities, leaders, and dignitaries to foster dialogue, strengthen community ties, and celebrate cultural heritage. A key focus of the event was the participation of Indigenous communities in Canada.

Elder Charlotte , Yellow Horn McLeod , Elders Jeraldine Larose (Jerry), Flora Johnson, James Savazzoo, and Terry Snow shared their experiences, highlighting both the rich traditions of Indigenous culture and the historical challenges faced by their communities. Their narratives provided an important perspective on reconciliation and inclusivity in modern Canada.

The event was attended by representatives from various cultural groups, the media (Rajeev-National Times), law enforcement (Ranbir Randhawa, CPS), political circles,  Swati & Vidula (CMA),  Rakesh Punj & Lokesh Sharma ( HSC) , Vishal Pathania (HAA) and the  City of Calgary.

Attendees introduced themselves, shared their cultural backgrounds, and engaged in meaningful discussions about fostering a more inclusive society. Jay, one of the event’s organizers, emphasized the significance of such gatherings, stating, “This event is a testament to the strength of diversity and the power of dialogue. By coming together, we build bridges and create a more inclusive society.”The event successfully showcased the importance of cultural exchange in Calgary’s growing multicultural landscape. Organizers hope to continue such initiatives, encouraging collaboration, mutual respect, and community-building across all backgrounds.
