Two Terrorists Eliminated in Foiled Infiltration Bid Along LoC in Gurez, Bandipora

Srinagar (National Times): Two unidentified terrorists were shot dead in a joint anti-infiltration operation near the Line of Control (LoC) in the Naushehra Nard area of Gurez sector in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district, the Army said on Thursday.

The operation was launched after specific intelligence input from the Jammu and Kashmir Police indicated a possible infiltration attempt in the region. Acting swiftly, personnel from the Indian Army and J&K Police initiated a coordinated search in the densely forested area near the LoC.

According to a statement shared by the Army’s Chinar Corps on platform X (formerly Twitter), the alert troops noticed suspicious movement close to the border late Wednesday night. When challenged, the suspected infiltrators opened indiscriminate fire, prompting security forces to retaliate effectively. In the ensuing gunfight, two terrorists were killed.

“Based on intelligence provided by JKP regarding likely infiltration attempt, a joint operation was launched… Alert troops spotted suspicious activity and challenged, which resulted in terrorists opening indiscriminate fire. Troops responded with effective fire, neutralising two terrorists,” the Army’s post stated.

Search and sanitization operations are still underway in the area to ensure there are no more infiltrators hiding nearby. The identities and affiliations of the slain individuals are yet to be ascertained.

The Gurez sector, which borders Pakistan-administered territory, has historically been a hotspot for infiltration attempts, particularly during periods of low visibility. Officials have recently stepped up vigil along the LoC amid increased activity reported in certain pockets.

This successful operation marks yet another blow to infiltration attempts along the border and highlights the readiness and coordination of Indian security forces operating in sensitive frontier zones. Further details will be released as the operation progresses.
