Two Men Arrested Following Brutal Assault on Calgary Transit Driver

Calgary, (Rajeev Sharma): In a powerful display of justice, the Calgary Police Service has apprehended two individuals believed to be responsible for a violent assault on a city transit bus driver that occurred in the early hours of Wednesday morning, sending a strong message that such heinous crimes will not be tolerated. At approximately 1:12 a.m., officers responded to reports of an assault near Falconridge Boulevard and Castleridge Boulevard N.E. It is alleged that the two suspects attacked the driver after he refused their request to deviate from the designated route, showcasing the driver’s unwavering commitment to safety. One passenger attempted to intervene but sustained no serious injuries, demonstrating the power of community and resilience. The driver was transported to hospital in critical condition but has since been upgraded to stable, a testament to the strength of the human spirit.
Acting Superintendent Gerry Francois of the Calgary Police Service stated, “We fully recognize the gravity of this incident and its impact on the community, and we remain committed to ensuring safe public spaces, including on transit, because everyone deserves to feel safe and protected.”
