Two Gangsters Injured in Patiala Encounter; Weapons Recovered

Patiala, November 23 — Two wanted gangsters were injured in a police encounter carried out by the CIA Staff Patiala under the supervision of SSP Patiala. According to officials, the operation was led by Varun Sharma, SP Investigation, and Gurbans Bains, with CIA in-charge Inspector Pradeep Singh Bajwa heading the field team.

Police said Harpreet Singh, also known as Makkhan, son of Roor Singh from village Saifdeepur under Sadar Patiala police station, and Gautam alias Badshah, son of Sucha Singh from Kanda Basti Boda Gate under Nabha Kotwali police station, were wounded during the exchange of fire. Both men were wanted in several cases, including murder, attempted murder, robbery and dacoity, and had been absconding for a long time.

Investigators received a tip-off that the duo was travelling on a motorcycle from Bhaddso towards nearby villages and heading in the direction of Sirhind Road. Acting swiftly, the police team set up a naka near the Bhakra canal bridge in the jurisdiction of village Rogla.

When officers attempted to stop them, the accused opened fire with the intention to kill. Police retaliated, injuring both men in the encounter. They were immediately taken to Rajindra Hospital, Patiala, for treatment.

A search of the spot led to the recovery of two .30-bore pistols, five live rounds, five used cartridges, and a silver Hero Splendor motorcycle without a registration number.
