Two Arrested for Sheltering Pahalgam Terror Attack Accused, Confess Lashkar-e-Taiba Links

Srinagar, June 22, 2025: In a critical breakthrough in the Pahalgam terror attack investigation, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has arrested two individuals for allegedly sheltering the militants responsible for the April 22 carnage that killed 26 tourists in Jammu and Kashmir.

The arrested men, Parvaiz Ahmad Jothar of Batkote and Bashir Ahmad Jothar of Hill Park, Pahalgam, were found to have provided shelter, food, and logistics to three Pakistani militants of the banned terrorist outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT). According to the NIA, the suspects gave refuge to the attackers in a seasonal hut, locally called a dhok, situated in Hill Park, days before the deadly assault at Baisaran Valley.

The duo has been charged under Section 19 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act for harboring terrorists. During interrogation, they reportedly confessed to knowing the identities and affiliations of the attackers, stating they were Pakistani nationals linked to LeT. Investigators believe this sheltering was a premeditated act that enabled the terrorists to carry out one of the most brutal strikes in the region in recent years.

The arrests come as part of a larger probe under Operation Sindoor, launched after the Pahalgam attack which was widely condemned for targeting tourists based on their religious identity. The NIA and security forces have since questioned over 2,800 people across Kashmir and detained more than 150 suspects.

Officials say the arrests mark a significant stride in unraveling the logistics network behind the attack and are expected to yield further leads on LeT’s sleeper cells and support systems within India.
