Washington D.C., July 25, 2025: US President Donald Trump sharply criticised American tech companies on Wednesday for outsourcing jobs and operations abroad, warning that the era of building factories in China and hiring workers in India is over under his leadership. Speaking at the AI Summit in Washington, Trump accused major US tech firms of embracing “radical globalism” at the expense of American workers.
“For too long, much of America’s tech industry pursued a radical globalism that left millions of Americans feeling distrustful and betrayed,” Trump said during his address. He claimed that top technology companies have benefited from American freedom while investing overseas and marginalising citizens at home. “Many of our largest tech companies have reaped the blessings of American freedom while building their factories in China, hiring workers in India, and slashing profits in Ireland. All the while dismissing and even censoring their fellow citizens right here at home. Under President Trump, those days are over,” he declared.
The remarks came as Trump signed three executive orders focused on Artificial Intelligence. One of the key orders unveiled a White House action plan aimed at harnessing AI for national priorities. Another order called for a coordinated national effort to support the US AI industry, including initiatives to promote the export of full-stack American AI technology packages.
Trump positioned the AI push as part of a broader agenda to reassert American technological and economic dominance. “Winning the AI race will demand a new spirit of patriotism and national loyalty in Silicon Valley and long beyond Silicon Valley,” he said, urging companies to realign their priorities. “We need US technology companies to be all in for America. We want you to put America first. You have to do that. That’s all we ask.”
The speech underscores Trump’s growing emphasis on economic nationalism and technological independence as he steers his second term toward curbing foreign dependence and elevating domestic innovation.
