Trump Warns Europe on Immigration, Calls It a ‘Horrible Invasion’ During Visit to Scotland

Washington D.C., July 26 — U.S. President Donald Trump issued a sharp rebuke to European immigration policies during his visit to Scotland, warning that unchecked migration is “killing” the continent. Speaking to reporters shortly after landing, Trump urged European nations to strengthen their borders or risk losing their identity.

“You’re not going to have Europe anymore. You better get your act together,” Trump said, describing current migration levels as a “horrible invasion.” He criticised several European leaders for failing to act decisively, although he stopped short of naming specific countries.

Trump, whose family roots trace back to Scotland and Germany, is scheduled to meet UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen during his Europe trip. The high-profile meetings are expected to include discussions on border control and migration.

The U.S. President also praised unnamed European leaders who he said were taking a tougher stance on immigration but were being overlooked or criticised for their efforts. “Some are doing a great job,” Trump stated, “but they’re not getting credit for it.”

Trump contrasted Europe’s current migration approach with his own administration’s policies, claiming significant success since his return to the White House in January. “Last month, we had nobody entering our country,” he said. “We took out a lot of bad people that got there.”

Since beginning his second term, Trump has reinstated many of his earlier immigration measures, including efforts to tighten asylum rules and ramp up deportations. He has also initiated what he calls the largest deportation operation in U.S. history, a move that has triggered widespread demonstrations across the country.

Despite growing global concerns over migration, Europe remains one of the primary destinations for international migrants. According to United Nations data from 2020, nearly 87 million migrants reside in European nations — a number that continues to rise amid ongoing geopolitical and economic instability in parts of Africa, the Middle East, and Asia.
