Trump Urges Iran-Israel Peace Deal, Makes Wild Claim of Halting India-Pakistan Tensions via Trade

Donald Trump Targets India with Reciprocal Tariffs, Signals Hard Line on Trade

Washington, D.C., (National Times): In a characteristically bold and controversial social media post, former U.S. President Donald J. Trump urged Iran and Israel to “make a deal,” suggesting that peace in the Middle East is achievable and imminent under his vision. Alongside the appeal, Trump made an eyebrow-raising claim that he had once managed to de-escalate tensions between India and Pakistan by leveraging trade with the United States.

The post, shared on Trump’s social media platform Truth Social, reads: “Iran and Israel should make a deal, and will make a deal, just like I got India and Pakistan to make, in that case by using TRADE with the United States to bring reason, cohesion, and sanity into the talks…”

While there is no public record of Trump brokering any direct deal between India and Pakistan involving U.S. trade, the former President has frequently boasted of backchannel influence during global conflicts. Experts and diplomatic sources have long contested such assertions.

Trump went on to recall past international disputes he claims to have calmed, including the long-running tension between Serbia and Kosovo, and the Nile dam crisis between Egypt and Ethiopia, saying his intervention brought “peace, at least for now.”

Trump added, “Likewise, we will have PEACE, soon, between Israel and Iran! Many calls and meetings now taking place.”

Though he offered no concrete details about these alleged peace efforts, Trump concluded with his signature flair:

“MAKE THE MIDDLE EAST GREAT AGAIN!”

The post has sparked reactions across diplomatic circles, with analysts noting that relations between India and Pakistan remain fraught, and tensions between Israel and Iran have only intensified in recent years. Trump’s bold prediction of Middle East peace, especially between Israel and Iran — two bitter regional rivals — is seen by many as wildly optimistic, if not entirely implausible.

Still, the former President’s message highlights his continued focus on international affairs as he eyes a political comeback ahead of the 2024 U.S. elections.
