The comments came as Russia unleashed its most extensive drone and missile assault since the war began, killing at least 12 civilians and injuring many more over three days of sustained bombardment.
Trump, posting on social media, said Putin was “needlessly killing a lot of people” and warned that trying to take over all of Ukraine would ultimately “lead to the downfall of Russia.” His statement marks a rare and sharp denunciation of the Russian leader, especially considering past accusations of Trump’s conciliatory stance toward the Kremlin.
