National Times Bureau :- A heart-wrenching road accident near Nabha has left an entire family shattered after a Punjab Police woman constable and her three-month-old infant daughter lost their lives. The incident occurred near Pir Baba Nogja area of village Bir Dusanjh, sending shockwaves across the region.
According to preliminary information, the accident took place when a Swift car attempted to overtake another vehicle in a dangerous manner. During the manoeuvre, the driver lost control, leading to a violent collision between two Swift cars. The impact was so severe that both vehicles were badly damaged.
The deceased have been identified as Amanpreet Kaur, a Punjab Police employee, and her three-month-old daughter Arjoi. The infant died on the spot due to the intensity of the crash, while Amanpreet Kaur succumbed to her injuries while being rushed to the hospital.
Amanpreet’s 10-year-old niece, who was also travelling in the car, sustained critical injuries. She was initially taken to the civil hospital and later referred to Patiala for advanced treatment. Reports indicate that five people were travelling in one of the vehicles at the time of the accident.
Family members stated that the victims were on their way to Rajpura to receive a relative returning from Spain when the tragic mishap occurred mid-journey. What was meant to be a routine family trip turned into an unimaginable tragedy within moments.
Adding to the grief, Amanpreet Kaur’s husband is also serving in the Punjab Police. The double loss has plunged the police family into deep mourning, with relatives and colleagues struggling to come to terms with the sudden tragedy.
Police teams reached the spot shortly after the incident and initiated an investigation. Authorities are examining the exact sequence of events and are expected to take legal action based on the findings.
The accident once again highlights the deadly consequences of reckless overtaking and high-speed driving, where a moment of negligence can cost innocent lives.
