Khopoli (Gurpreet Singh) — A devastating multi-vehicle accident on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway claimed the lives of three individuals and left five others injured on Wednesday morning. According to the Khopoli Police, the incident occurred when a container trailer lost control and rammed into four vehicles before overturning directly onto an Innova car traveling in the same direction. The impact completely crushed the car, leading to the immediate death of its three occupants.
The deceased have been identified by authorities as Ambadas Damu Petare, Shrikant Anant Jadhav, and Pramod Shankar Pawar. Five other individuals sustained injuries in the pile-up, including Navnath Bhujbal, 32, Akshay Gaikwad, 31, Bhanudas Gaikwad, 27, and Swapnil Bhujbal, 36. The driver of the container trailer, 37-year-old Awdhesh Yadav, was also severely injured in the crash and is among those receiving medical treatment.
Police officials confirmed that a case has been registered against the driver, Awdhesh Yadav, under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). These include Section 106-1, which pertains to causing death by a rash and negligent act. While the driver remains under medical supervision due to his injuries, the Khopoli Police have launched a further investigation to determine the exact circumstances that led him to lose control of the heavy vehicle.
