Tensions Soar Along LoC: Explosions Trigger Blackout in Jammu, Infiltration Thwarted

Jammu (National Times): In response to multiple explosions heard near the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch and Rajouri, authorities enforced a total blackout in Jammu on Friday morning, as tensions between India and Pakistan continue to escalate.

Sirens echoed across parts of Jammu and Kashmir following the early morning blasts, and official sources are currently investigating the incident.

Meanwhile, on Thursday night, BSF units prevented a significant infiltration attempt at the International Border in the Samba district. At 11 PM, alert jawans intercepted suspected militants attempting to cross into Indian territory, as confirmed via a statement by BSF Jammu on X.

Simultaneously, the Indian Army downed two Pakistani drones in the Naushera sector, which were detected amid intense cross-border shelling. No casualties were reported in the exchange.

According to the Integrated Defence Staff, Pakistan also attempted to hit Indian military installations in Jammu, Udhampur, and Pathankot with drones and missiles. These hostile actions were effectively countered using standard operating procedures and a mix of advanced air defence measures.

These provocations follow India’s precision military campaign under Operation Sindoor, launched on May 7 in response to the April 22 terrorist attack in Pahalgam. During the operation, Indian Armed Forces struck nine terror bases in Pakistan and PoJK, reportedly linked to Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammed.

Security remains high across Jammu and Kashmir as both ground and aerial surveillance continue around the clock.
