Ahmedabad, June 12, 2025 – In a significant humanitarian gesture, Tata Sons has announced a compensation of ₹1 crore for the families of all those who lost their lives in the Air India Flight AI171 crash in Ahmedabad. The announcement was made by N. Chandrasekaran, Chairman of Tata Sons, as part of the group’s comprehensive relief efforts following the country’s deadliest civil aviation tragedy.
Chandrasekaran also confirmed that the medical expenses of all injured individuals will be fully covered by the group. “We will ensure that every survivor receives all necessary care and support,” he said in a statement.
In addition to the financial and medical support, Tata Sons has pledged assistance for rebuilding the damaged hostel block of BJ Medical College, which was struck by the aircraft during the crash, killing several students and injuring many others.
The Tata Group, which owns Air India, has been actively coordinating with central and state authorities in ongoing relief operations.
