National Times Bureau :- A serious incident occurred on Diwali night in Guru Nanak Colony, Patti, when a doctor’s car caught fire due to stray firecrackers and was completely destroyed. The vehicle is estimated to have been worth around Rs 18 lakh.
Dr. Arvinderjit Singh stated that the fire broke out around midnight while fireworks were being set off in the surrounding area. Several crackers fell on his parked car, causing it to ignite. Local residents rushed to help, but the fire quickly engulfed the vehicle.
Dr. Singh and neighbors have appealed to the Punjab government for prompt compensation, emphasizing the significant financial loss caused by the incident. He also mentioned that the fire brigade was contacted but could not respond immediately, as the nearest unit was stationed at Bhikhiwind at the time.
Authorities have advised residents to exercise caution while using firecrackers to prevent similar accidents in the future.
