Tarn Taran (Gurpreet Singh): Ahead of the by-election in Assembly Constituency 021-Tarn Taran, the district administration has announced a paid holiday on November 11 for all offices, institutions, and establishments in the area to enable residents to cast their votes without hindrance.
The order, issued by District Magistrate Rahul (IAS), applies to government offices, private firms, banks, factories, shops, and commercial establishments, as well as employees on shifts or working outside the constituency who are registered voters locally.
“The holiday is intended purely to facilitate voting. No deductions in pay will be made,” the DM stated, urging citizens to exercise their democratic right responsibly.
The declaration has been made under the provisions of the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881, Representation of the People Act, 1951, and applicable state labor regulations.
The by-election results are scheduled for November 14, following the polling on November 11. The administration has reiterated that this step, along with other election-related measures such as bans on rallies and public gatherings, aims to ensure smooth, peaceful, and transparent polling in the constituency.
