Chandigarh, November 27, 2025: The Vice-President of India, serving as Chancellor of Panjab University, has formally approved the schedule for Senate elections — clearing the path for a full restoration of the university’s governance structure. After months of student protests and institutional uncertainty, this approval heralds the reinstatement of the university’s top decision-making body. Under the approved plan, ordinary fellows for the new four-year Senate term will be elected from multiple constituencies: registered graduates, university professors and associate/assistant professors, principals and staff of technical and professional colleges, heads and teachers of affiliated arts colleges, and a set of faculty representatives.…
