New Delhi/Chandigarh, November 7, 2025: In a significant reversal, the Ministry of Education on Friday withdrew its earlier notification to alter the constitution and composition of Panjab University’s Senate and Syndicate. The move came after strong opposition and consultations with students, faculty members, former vice-chancellors, and the current vice-chancellor.The ministry had earlier invoked Section 72 of the Punjab Reorganisation Act, 1966, to implement recommendations made by a High-Level Committee set up by the Chancellor on March 2, 2021.
