Chandigarh (Balwinder Singh): In a major turn in a two-decade-old case, the Punjab and Haryana High Court on Saturday acquitted Dera Sacha Sauda leader Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh in the 2002 killing of journalist Ram Chander Chhatrapati, overturning his earlier conviction that had resulted in a life sentence. The decision was delivered by a division bench comprising Chief Justice Sheel Nagu and Justice Vikram Aggarwal while hearing appeals challenging the 2019 judgment of a trial court.
