President Murmu Administers Oath to India’s 53rd Chief Justice

National Times Bureau :- Justice Surya Kant was sworn in on Monday as the 53rd Chief Justice of India, starting what will be a nearly 15-month term in the country’s top judicial post. President Droupadi Murmu administered the oath, and several leaders—including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, and Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla—were present. He took over the role from Justice Bhushan R. Gavai, after being officially appointed under Article 124(2) of the Constitution based on the former Chief Justice’s recommendation.
