Chandigarh (Gurpreet Singh): In a major policing success, Punjab Police has secured the arrest of fugitive Amritpal Singh Mehron, the prime suspect in the killing of social media figure Kanchan Kumari, following his deportation from the Middle East. Officials said the accused was brought back to India after coordinated efforts involving the Counter Intelligence Wing’s Overseas Fugitive Tracking and Extradition Cell (OFTEC) and central agencies. He was taken into custody upon arrival at Indira Gandhi International Airport on April 10. The case dates back to June 2025, when the victim was allegedly abducted and murdered in Bathinda.
