Government Blocks Five OTT Platforms Over Obscene Content

New Delhi (Gurpreet Singh): The government on Tuesday ordered the blocking of five OTT platforms for allegedly streaming obscene content, officials said. According to sources, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has blocked MoodXVIP, Koyal Playpro, Digi Movieplex, Feel, and Jugnu after following due procedure. Under the prescribed process, the government directs internet service providers (ISPs) to restrict public access to such platforms in accordance with the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021, and other applicable laws related to obscenity. New Delhi, January 2, 2026: The central government on Friday issued a stern notice to Elon Musk-owned social media platform X, directing it to immediately remove all vulgar, obscene and unlawful content, particularly material generated through its artificial intelligence tool Grok.
